CatzJazz Feline Rescue

Thank you for visiting Catz Jazz Feline Rescue, Refuge & Home Placement.
We are an all-volunteer, Texas-based companion cat rescue organization located just outside of Austin, Tx. Our founder, Cathy Taylor, established the CatzJazz no-kill non-profit organization with a mission to provide safety, shelter, veterinary care, medical rehabilitation and socialization for abandoned or abused cats until good permanent homes can be found for them. We do not maintain a paid staff; our foster, resource and support network are funded exclusively through donations. Adoption days are at Lakeline PETsMART every Sat/Sun from 12-5pm, and we also set up appointments to bring cats available for adoption to prospective adopters' homes for a visit, up to 50 miles from our home base for adoptions. Call or e-mail us for more information. Phone: 512-636-8473 Make a donation with PayPal - it's fast and secure!

ADOPTING FROM CATZJAZZ

You must be at least 18 to apply.
Please do not leave any fields left blank, incomplete applications won't go through.
You may also apply in person during adoption days at Lakeline PETsMART every Sat/Sun from 12-5pm.
(Please note that not all of our cats go to our adoption site because we rotate out cats based on their need for adoption, so please contact us to arrange the day you want to visit a particular cat.)

Please keep in mind if you are applying for a kitten that kittens usually go quickly. Though we update the site as often as we can, sometimes kittens are adopted out the same day they are put online, so if you are looking to adopt a younger cat, you may want to consider putting an application in on file with us and checking back often. Once you have an approved application on file, you can just call us at 512-636-8473 as soon as you see a cat you want to adopt!

All of our felines are treated for worms/fleas, tested for FeLV/FIV, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed/neutered (if at least 5-6 months of age), are litterbox trained and have received any medical care they needed while in foster or rehabilitation. In the case of rescued dogs in our care from time to time, the dog will be fully-vetted and up-to-date. The average adoption fee of $125 helps offset some of these expenses which are otherwise funded through our support network of donations and volunteers. Adoption fees range, and may go as low as $75 for long-stay or senior rescues, are typically $125 for adults and kittens and can go higher for "purebreeds". Many of our rescues arrive to us in critical need of costly medical procedures. This adoption fee is critical so that we can sustain our rescue operation and provide this same quality of care to the next rescue in our care.

*** We know this is a long application, however we have this process to ensure every cat we place gets the best home for its needs and to ensure a long lifetime of safety, love, and companionship for them. Falsification of information can be cause for denial of adoption, so please complete this application with honesty and provide as many details where appropriate.

CATZ JAZZ ADOPTION APPLICATION

Are you applying for a cat or kitten? (type N/A if undecided)

Name of cat(s) you are interested in adopting (type N/A if undecided)

Today's Date:

DEAR APPLICANT: WE ADVOCATE THE MESSAGE OF RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP AND EDUCATION WITH EACH ADOPTION. Have you considered that adopting this pet may be a 15 to 20 year commitment of not only your love and good intentions, but your actual time, energy, financial responsiblity?  A pet's BASIC needs alone will cost $500-$800 per year. An estimation of cost for adequate care of a cat is around $1,000-$1,100 annually (that's $80-90 per month average) and should include Quality Food, Litter, Carrier, Food Bowls, Grooming/Grooming Tools, Stain Removers, Ear/Dental Care, Heartworm Prevention and Routine Veterinarian Bills. That figure does not include the cost for Treats, Toys, Cat Furniture (Scratching Posts, Window Perches, Heated Bed, etc) and unexpected medical care that can come up from time to time with an average vet visit being about $200 per visit. The pet will require adequate time each and every day for training, grooming, exercising and human interaction.  Please be prepared for this commitment and have seriously taken this into account before applying.  Animals have feelings too, and rescued animals in particular having being given up, or abandoned once again, can cause a setback in their behavior and make it all the more difficult to find yet another home.  We find this happens when people adopt a cute kitten, only to return them as a grown adult because they no longer are interested in having a full-time responsibility past the kitten stage. This is not fair to the animal, cats and dogs are not a novelty, so please have already thought this through before applying.  Our goal is to place all of our cats in responsible and loving FOREVER homes.

I have read The Message Of Responsible Pet Ownership and am prepared for a life-long commitment to this animal
and I pledge to take this animal into my home as a cherished companion and will provide responsibly
in every capacity for my pet's needs for it's entire life.

Our goal is to ensure every single cat we place has a long lifetime of safety, love, and companionship for them. Never should any of these cats be again faced with a life of abandonment, neglect or taken to a shelter, so we do ask that you promise and agree to return this animal to us in the case that you can no longer care for him/her for whatever reason. Do you agree that in the case that you can no longer care for any animal you adopt from CatzJazz, you will return them to us as an alternative to a life of abandonment, being denied financial/medical need or being taken to a shelter?

In the event I am unable to provide responsibly in all capacity for this cat'(s) needs, I will not let this cat be denied financial/medical care,
i will not surrender this animal to a shelter and I will not have this cat face a life of abandonment
so I will therefore return this animal to CatzJazz for proper care and rehoming.
