Please Help Catz Jazz Raise Funds for Feline Comfort & Recovery Buildings Please help give abandoned and abused cats a place to reside! We have no buildings and are at capacity!
This oh so sweet young cat was brought to Catz Jazz Rescue by way of a concerned cat lover who had noticed this cat travelling along with a tiny kitten near her residence in Copperas Cove. Pearl had showed up dragging her hind legs, but was very friendly. This kind individual took Pearl and her kitten to a local vet for exam and diagnosis. With x-rays it was confirmed that the cat had complete breaks of both femoral heads of her rear legs. The vet informed the lady that she had two choices with the cat which were either a very expensive surgery or euthansia. Needless to say the woman was not ready to give up on the cat nor did she have the funds for such an expensive operation. A friend referred her to Catz Jazz Rescue from whom she had previously adopted a couple of her feline companions.
Upon speaking with the lady on the phone, Catz Jazz agreed to accept the special needs cat and arranged for her to be brought to their vet for further review. After reviewing the x-rays, observing the cat and discussions with Catz Jazz it was decided that no surgical intervention would be necessary at this time due to the fact that the cat is currently walking with her legs as they are and does not appear in pain. We are not going to possibly inflict more pain to this cat by having surgery done when she appears comfortable as is so we will wait until our veterinarian gives us the go, and that will also give us time to raise the funding for the operation(s). Her kitten has been adopted into a loving home. Pearl is such a dear cat and has no trouble right now walking around her home though we do limit her activity to no jumping and such similar activity.
Pearl is a special needs cat due to the fact that she does require extra care and needs to have her activity monitored so that she doesn't overdue causing her unnecessary pain. This special cat has been rescued and is being cared for, but
she will at some point need a rather costly surgery on her rear legs (which having viewed the x-rays we are amazed she is walking on at this time) and probably medication to help with joint care. The x-ray above shows the femoral heads broken.
Pearl is really quite the trooper. We would be grateful for any monetary funds on behalf of Pearl for her future surgery. She is treated by Dr. Meyer at Riverside Veterinary Clinic. Contributions can be made towards Pearls Fund c/o Catz Jazz.
