CatzJazz Feline Rescue

Thank you for visiting Catz Jazz Feline Rescue, Refuge & Home Placement.
We are an all-volunteer, Texas-based companion cat rescue organization located just outside of Austin, Tx. Our founder, Cathy Taylor, established the CatzJazz no-kill non-profit organization with a mission to provide safety, shelter, veterinary care, medical rehabilitation and socialization for abandoned or abused cats until good permanent homes can be found for them. We do not maintain a paid staff; our foster, resource and support network are funded exclusively through donations. Adoption days are at Lakeline PETsMART every Sat/Sun from 12-5pm, and we also set up appointments to bring cats available for adoption to prospective adopters' homes for a visit, up to 50 miles from our home base for adoptions. Call or e-mail us for more information. Phone: 512-636-8473 Make a donation with PayPal - it's fast and secure!

Jeremy!

"JEREMY"

Jeremy's Story submitted from Diana: "As with most of life's good things, we weren't looking for a new cat at all when Jeremy came into our lives. We had four cats, all with "special needs" of the emotional kind. Two we had adopted the year before (Simba and Nickel), from a humane society, and two that had come to our door: one many years before with kittens and no papers (Shadow), and the other came about a month after we adopted Nickel and Simba . We named him Extra for the obvious reason. It wasn't easy to bring another needy fellow in, but things soon calmed down and Extra had turned out to be anything but. Anyway, we had quite a group of great cats that had been unwanted, unloved and had unknown pasts.

Jeremy!

We frequented Petsmart and would always look at the cats up for adoption there. One day we spied Jeremy and he looked similar to a Maine Coon mix named Bandit whom we had dearly loved. We did not jump into adopting him though; four were quite a handful. We kept going there from around Thanksgiving up to Christmas. We couldn't believe that no one had decided to adopt this handsome, friendly fellow. By this time we knew Cathy pretty well and had talked to her several times. Through our conversations with her we got to know a lot about Jeremy: his habits, his likes and dislikes. And, unlike our other cats, we even learned a lot about his past!

Happy Jeremy!

Inevitably, we decided to add him to our menagerie. He has been exactly as promised: a healthy cat with no problems, great manners, and a joy and beauty to be around. We wouldn't say there wasn't some adjusting to do, but over time they all found their places. Even our vet was proud we'd finally acquired a cat that didn't have a laundry list of illnesses and parasites. Jeremy has been with us four years now and he was four when he came here. We wouldn't trade him for the world!"
Thank you, Diana, for your happy cat story! We are so grateful to you for caring and loving this wonderful fellow!

Pippa at 4 months

"PIPPA"

Meet Pippa. Pippa was adopted the summer of 2005 by the now CatzJazz webmaster before she was a volunteer with CatzJazz. Pippa was rescued very young out of a barn cat situation gone awry. There were dozens of very malnourished cats and kittens uncared for and fending for themselves on a barn property. Our director Cathy was part of this barn cat rescue and managed to save young Pippa's life by taking her into her care. Pippa was an emaciated, bony kitten that had been deprived of proper nourishment and clean water. Shortly after Pippa was saved from a life of neglect, thanks to Cathy's care, she was starting to put on a little bit of weight and was getting proper medical care and introduced to a good diet. She was then placed up for adoption. This picture is Pippa about a month after her rescue. Even after her adoption she remained bony for awhile. Due to being born in such neglectful conditions, Pippa suffered Feline asthma during her first couple of years but received proper medical attention to treat the allergy triggers. Thankfully she has not had an asthma attack in over a year. Pippa turns 4 years old in March 2009 and has been living a pampered life since her rescue that includes lots of daily attention and love. As you can see below she has grown into a well-fed lady and has even adopted her own baby (another rescue) and enjoys loving on younger kittens as if she is their mommy.

Pippa grown up!
Because of action taken and a loving home, Pippa has been given a wonderful life that she probably would have never known and her human companions couldn't imagine a life without her!
